Default Thought Pollution

I'm not sure if it's just me (I'm sure it's not) but sometimes I find myself thinking things that I'm not consciously thinking. I'll be going about my day, maybe even reading, or doing tasks that actually involve concentration, and then I realize that my mind has wondered off into a direction I didn't consciously intend for it to go.

It's almost as if I mentally walk up to someone else in the middle of their conversation, and I say "wait a minute! What was I just thinking about? Why was I just thinking that?"

It's not only thoughts but images too. Stupid things sometimes, and sometimes I don't even know what it was that I was thinking.

As you can imagine I don't like the lack of control over my thoughts. It makes it hard to stay focused which is a big concern of mine.

My questions:

1) What is going on in my brain? Am I just scatter brained? Is there something wrong with me? Is this normal for everyone?
2) Am I just picking of external thoughts and energies around me? Energy vampires perhaps?
3) Can I harness this in any way?

I appreciate everyone reading this and helping me understand my brain!!

Much Love,

Oh and I just wanted to add that I visited a psychic last year, and she could barely give me a reading because she said my mind was so scattered. I really want to learn the tools to become more focused! Help!

Actually, there is always 'mind pollution' going on, from TV, Radio, other people. (I've been a sensitive all my life). On top of this already thick grid of interference, it seems those bent on control of others have developed weapons of mind control that utilize our cell phones and TV's to 'leak in' manipulative thoughts.

Happily for you, you are aware of the outside interference (many aren't), and you still rule your mind. There are lot's of things you can do to short circuit all this interference. 'EFT' (www.emofree.com) is very helpful, as are many other focusing and mind control techniques. I believe we are quite able to block out mental intrusions with a bit of training and practice.

Great questions. Certainly ones we all ask at some point especially as we experience being more open and psychic (sensitive) to the mental and emotional plane.

Here are a few things to consider:

1) Your diet. Stimulants and high amounts of sugar can leave you very "scatter brained". The fight or flight response triggered by much of the additives in soda, energy drinks, coffee, and the likes throw your brain into Beta which is the monkey mind. If you can begin to associate having energy with the peace and calm feeling you get by moving slow and controled, you'

2) Your environment. Constant barrage of media/music/cars/etc.?

3) Your internal dialogue. If you constantly view yourself as being "scatter brained" simply restating how you feel can readjust your whole attitude. Next time you feel "scatter brained" tell yourself that you are not scatter brained, that you are "off point" or that your experiencing "mental turbulence". There is great power to be had in to talk to yourself in a much more compassionate tone using constructive descriptive words. Your self talk can help/hurt you. Aspire to learn words and phrases that will indeed help heal your attitude.

4) And the best for last: Your breathing. There is an irrefutable connection between the breath and the mind. There is a breath/mind axis. Becoming aware of your breathing pattern and consciously slowing it down will starkly increase your ability to control and maintain your thoughts and mind. Pranayama (Or the science of breath holding) is something I highly recommend to someone experiencing the lose of control over mind like you are. A simple exercise:

The 7/11 breath. Inhale for a count of 7 seconds. Hold your breath for 11 seconds. Exhale slowly for a count of 7 seconds. Repeat.

Try to use as much of your lung capacity as possible. Full breaths. Complete breaths. Slow and controlled. Do this for at least 10 breaths to start feeling the effects. Yes, you'll have to "slow down" and that's the point!

---

Start making gradual progress upon the above mentioned points and I can guarantee you'll experience a greater control over your mind. Fear not psychic vampires for they issue is within you, not outside of you.

I'm proud to say my diet is very clean. Been a vegetarian all my life, don't drink soda, caffeine, and I try to keep the sugar at a minimum.

Don't listen to much music, do surf the net a lot. I would say my environment was pretty calm, however whenever my spouse is around I can't help but feel his energy and actually feel better when I can get him out of the house.

This is excellent advice and I will start immediately. Though I do have a very positive outlook on myself, I haven't really noticed this mental barrage until recently. I will begin the reprogramming from the inside, starting now!

AWESOME advice and exactly what I need to start doing! I recently downloaded the EFT info to start applying it to my life.

Thanks for all the great advice!!!

Much love
