Default Important read for usa residents.

First, let me highlight this.

The growing region, which includes Stockton, Fresno and Bakersfield, produces a quarter of the nation's food supply.

So you see an area in this article produces a full quarter of ALL food supplied in the USA. Now read. They are going to get 0, yes ZERO allocation of water.

Quote:
Last year's allocation was 40 percent. The previous low, during the last drought in the early 1990s, was 25 percent. The growing region, which includes Stockton, Fresno and Bakersfield, produces a quarter of the nation's food supply.

"There will be as much as a million acres of land in the Central Valley that will not receive water," Glaser said at a news conference in Sacramento. "This is going to be a tough year."

Farmers will cut back on production, which "is going to have a ripple affect through the economy. Food's going to go up, they don't need as much labor, they don't need as many supplies, fuel, tractors, trucking, boxes, pallets," said Steve Pastor, executive director of the Riverside County Farm Bureau.

California's agriculture is a $36.6 billion a year industry.

Richard Howitt, chairman of the UC Davis Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, has said water deliveries of 15 percent of full allocation could cause the loss of 40,000 jobs in California and $1.15 billion in farm and related income.

Folks, I am pleading with you here, read this an fully understand its implications. That $400 shopping fund will buy a fair bit now, but in summer time? early autum? its going to buy you squat. Shortages? if this goes ahead a quarter of the nations food is at risk. Are you prepared for what that may mean to you and your families?

Stocking up time is soon to be too late. I plead with you to take note, and if you can, take pre-emptive action to make sure you have enough for you and yours for at least a few months if not longer.

even more important for people to grow gardens, on any patch of land, vacant lots, pots on balconies; and if you can't, move to someplace where you can.

I haven't read the article yet but I will, just remember that we get all kinds of fruits and vegetables from Mexico and all of South and Central America. I know things are terrible in California and I get updates from my brother who lives in Riverside. That's why I said in another thread that we need tomorrows news, yesterday! That way we stay one step ahead of everyone. All I need is half a day to get everything I need for months worth of living.

I am going to get my stocks in soon. Pay day in two days time, so I am rolling out and stocking up on enough to ride out a few hard / lean months.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if this effects the USA hard, they are going to be like vaccuum cleaners on the worlds food markets.

That's so true Egg, I would stock up now myself but I'm not in the right situation to do that now. I've got to move in about a month and a half to somewhere, where ever the jobs are, and then I can start to make some kind of a plan. Right now I'm kind of in limbo, which really su..ks!!

I was in limbo for a while till December, when i got up, said 'soddit', and just took a leap of faith. Limbo, a planned limbo is wosre because your aware that theres a set, solid barrier to your preperations and you made it all by yourself.

What ever happens, this year is not shaping up too smart for alot of folks out there.

Actually I'm glad it's all happening because when it's over and done with, which will be March 9th, I'll be free to do whatever wherever and not have to worry about any more bills or a 1700.00 a month mortgage payment! phew, It will be a huge load off my back! It's funny because I've got to join the failing system to get out of the failing system! For me freedom is 3 weeks away!! woohoo!

Yeah it's a long story, but I bought it when the economy was still booming, and I had my own commercial painting company which was booming also. But of course six months after buying this house the economy went sour, and so did my business,ha just my luck! Oh well, no sense in looking back!

Yeah Czymra, I'll go anywhere I can get a job!, I guess I could work at Siemens or Mercedes, LOL!

I just read the article Egg, and it always comes to my mind that California and especially southern CA was all just over built and over populated without a care in the world. What a shame, and just like Florida, over built and over populated.

Yes but the whole, total continental United States of America is going to be a possible one quarter short of food, and then there is the ripples this will cause.

Thats bad news for every one, especially with China scrabbling for food because of its own drought.

Thanks Susan, and I will be looking into it in about three weeks!

Yeah it's true Egg and I'm going to be watching closely! I'm 5 minutes from a Super Walmart and I only need about two hours to get everything I need. That's one good thing about a Super Walmart, you can get everything from camping gear to food and supplies all in one shot!

Yeah I'm actually thinking Kansas City, just because the unemployment rate is low there, not because I want to live in KC, LOL! That's about as far north as I want to go, I'm a little spoiled after spending 25 years in Florida.

i was always amazed by maps like this. the u.s. in isolation.
i wonder how many american kids think that alaska is an island of the west coast, or know that mexico and canada exist?

maps of canada generally show the northern U.S. and alaska.
