Default The First Wave of World’s Collapsing Cities

Found this site reporting to be blocked by Google

"Below table lists the world’s cities that are likely to collapse completely or partially by or before 2012¹ in the first wave of collapse. The collapse would be caused by a combination of failing ecosystems, human-enhanced environmental catastrophes; failing infrastructure; food, water and fuel shortages; infectious disease; war, civil conflict and other dynamics. Following the first phase of collapse, massive waves of human migration from the affected areas create a domino effect that causes the collapse of the remaining population centers shortly after.

Is your city safe?

To prevent misuse of data, commercial exploitation, or property speculation, the project coordinators are withholding names and specific details of the first phase of world’s collapsing cities until further notice. See table below for general information."

"Table C.1. No. of world cities that could collapse completely or partially by 2012, the corresponding regions/countries and number of people that would be affected initially, according to the worst case future scenario. (Sources: MSRB, CASF)

Important Notice:
1. The date “2012” is based on the dynamic model simulations analyzing the environmental impact of excessive energy consumption. The CASF Committee and Members do NOT endorse Mayan Calendar, any New Age, ancient, or bible prophecies whatever."

I rattled the dice in my cup and it looks like it came out with and answer. And all the time I thought the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life death the universe and everything was 42 - or "The Hokey Pokey" was what it was all about. Now I can just chill and ask Joe for another sixer.

Hi Initiate,

The table doesn't help very much if the publishers don't give specific details. It's a little like me predicting a plane crash before the month is out but I'm not going to say where, how nor when.

What was the basis for these predictions? How did they make their calculations? Normally use of resources would depend on population. Isn't India to become the most populous country in the world in another 10 years? Surely the largest number of cities would be there, followed by China / Japan / South Korea.

What is the direct link to the site "blocked by Google"? There are over 2,000,000 sites that come up after I Googled 'cities collapsing by 2012' the majority blogs with this little table and some brief overview.

Best regards,

Steve

I'm so sorry Steve,

I could have sworn I had the link posted.

Here it is:

http://edro.wordpress.com/collapsing-cities/

I think you need to take a look at a bit more on the site to take it all in. They are taking into account a whole raft of factors to make the prediction.

The Dynamics of Collapse

The following exhibit lists the most probable [leading] causes that would drive the first wave of world’s cities to collapse. [Note: Data is listed alphabetically]

•Accumulation of toxic pollution in the environment
•Civil conflict
•Collapse of fisheries/fish species
•Collapse of natural pest regulation systems
•Corporate mass homicide
•Deforestation
•Desertification
•Droughts
•Economic collapse
•Epidemics of plant and animal diseases
•Excessive energy consumption
•Extreme climatic events (including extreme rain events, floods)
•Failing ecosystems
•Famine
•Foodborne, waterborne, airborne and insectborne infectious diseases (viral, bacterial, parasitic, fungal, prion)
•Fuel shortage
•Global collapse of pollinators
•Habitat destruction
•Human-enhanced natural catastrophes including earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, hurricanes, tropical storms, cyclones, extreme rainfall events, landslides, volcanic eruptions, droughts and wildfires …
•Human-induced climate change
•Increased UV radiation
•Industrial accidents (including radionuclide, chemical and oil spills)
•Inordinate prevalence of psychopathology caused by exponential growth economy: money fetishism, industrialism, militarism, atomistic lifestyles, consumerism, throwaway culture, dysfunctional societies …
•Land use change
•Loss of Topsoil
•Loss of Will to Live
•Mass migrations
•Mass murder/suicide as a result of neurological disorder caused by mercury [other heavy metals,] poisoning, biochemical poisoning, contaminated food and water supplies, tainted drugs especially vaccines
•Moral decline (unethical behavior, unsustainable lifestyles, overconsumption)
•New Strains of Superbugs, super bacteria, killer fungi
•Overshoot of Carrying Capacity; Increased ecological footprint; Overpopulation (esp. DCs*)
•Overwhelmed by mounting waste: agricultural, municipal (garbage and sewage) and industrial
•Poor global harvest/Food scarcity [Humans are one harvest away from starvation!]
•Poverty
•Running Dry (Running out of freshwater)
•Sinking into the ground (large-scale subsidence caused by overuse of groundwater supplies)
•Societal collapse
•Soil degradation (salination, erosion … )
•Spread of pandemic diseases
•The American Dream (and its global equivalents)
•The death of truth, surrender of concreteness to abstractions, defeat of ‘right’ by ’sight,’ loss of reason [and the essential faculties needed] to advance to the future
•Tourism [euphemistically, eco-tourism]
•War (conventional and nuclear)
•Unnamed mechanisms
•Unknown causes or new mechanisms of collapse

I googled "human-enhanced environmental catastrophes".

Guess which site came up first?

http://edro.wordpress.com/collapsing-cities/

Nothing blocked about it.

I don't see how these predictions are in any way useful. Nor do I think there is any validity to the notion that cities will "collapse", whatever they mean by that term, on a one by one basis. A city can take a pretty hard hit, such as the earthquake in Kobe, Japan, and still make it if the rest of the country is there to help. If there is a more general collapse of civilization, then all cities are in trouble because the ratio of population to resources is not favorable.

Man , looking at the list of potential reasons for a house cleaning of the earth. it's really a miracle we even make it to 80 yrs old in our lifetime. As for the monopoly game that we are all in , individually we can do our part by teaching others to conserve and respect our earth, no matter how small of a part we are just another piece of the puzzle to a solution.

One day there will be a cleaning that will take place and I feel by your postive actions of today you will be insulated from the rath of the future when the vacumn cleaner gets activated. Just my 2 cents.

The link was posted merely as a topic of interest. If no one is interested then this thread will die. If anything, the list of reasons for city collapse looks like an illuminati shopping list for pottential disasters to cause. Obviously there are people and organisations out there taking this topic seriously. They have put a lot of energy into the site. I should have posted this link under Conspiracy Theory.

EDRO appear to be identifying the problems we have in the world and looking for solutions.

Flap Your Wings to Save the World
Seeding Socioeconomic Avalanches
We are identifying the initial conditions seeding socioeconomic avalanches that could help save humanity from total extinction.

The window of opportunity is rapidly closing. In the worst case scenario, which could unfold by as early as 2012¹, about 20 percent of the world’s cities become unsustainable and begin to collapse. Massive waves of human migration from the affected areas create a domino effect that could cause the collapse of most of the remaining population centers. It may be too late to reverse the final outcome; however, we still have the option to change the worst case scenario!

It is easy for us to focus only on the light but the fact is there is a lot going on out there in the world. It is not good enough to put our blinders on and deny it exists. Is it not better to get out there and try our best to save ourselves? We all need to work together on this. Whilst the galactic fleet is waiting in the wings to come and help us, they are here to help us help ourselves. If we don't acknowledge our problems or attempt to solve them then we won't get very far. It may be too late for us to get ourselves out of the doo doo on our own so we more than likely need outside help to get through. We have to at least try. Time is short.

Where do we start?

Hey man! Let's all do the hokey pokey! And turn it all around....

The more you focus on the negative, the more into reality it becomes.

Ok, so I put my hands over my eyes and the negative stuff doesn't exist. Meanwhile all those around me don't know it's an illusion. So, if we personally are walking in the light, those who arn't awake drag our beloved planet down the gurgler or end up on another timeline. Complacency isn't walking in the light if we choose to ignore the plight of our fellow man. We can say, "Well it's their choice. They will get the planet they wish for". Either in this lifetime or a past lifetime we helped make the world the way it is today. We can change it but it isn't just going to be a snap of fingers. Were going to have to work hard to get it there. There's no easy way out. This is not negative. It is also not wrapped in cotten wool.

This is that is as I am that I am.

What can we do? The question I ask myself is: What can I do, just me. Be soverign - pay as little taxes as possible.

I'm planning an extra garden down by the road for my neighbors and the masses. I can grow alot on 1 acre. When I lived in the city I grew food on my patio. I talk to my neighbors about cooperation in hard times. What can we do to help each other.

Show all the people you know who live in the city the facts and encourage them to move to the country where they can grow their own food. If you live in the city grow it behind a fence.

If you live in the country be prepared to help feed alot of people. Get ready to help keep people alive. Impossible? No, you can always do what you can do.

Start bartering now. For example: I took a few small bags of pears with me to yard sales and traded for what I could use.

Hope that helps.

Marguerite

PS: I send out the facts anoymously thru the mail. I use the address I'm sending it to as the return address. Do 100 of those month, that will have an affect.

One person can inform one person and that person can inform another.......
