I suggest that you have missed my point. In my original question bodzoyfa, I posed the situation of being ALONE in a devastated environment. You are by yourself with no partner, children or neighbors around you. Everything you ever new existed, doesn't any more. I repeat - what good is gold or silver going to be then?

For a glimpse of what devastation will be like I, recommend Immanuel Velikovsky's "Earth In Upheaval." This book is based on scientific and archeological discoveries over the years. It presents more than enough proof of what global devastation has done to life on earth in ages past.

Hi Dan

I hadn't really thought much about coins until it was mentioned by another members post. I was thinking more about gold bars but it would be a good idea to have some smaller gold pieces on hand for bartering if that becomes necessary. I am trying to have all of my bases covered so I will look at that as well. Thanks for the suggestion.
