Default Re: What the hell is going on with the new TV's

hey franciejones ... not weird at all ... i had the same thing happen with my plasma last year ...

the thing was only a year or so old ... kept doing that clicking thing continuously when not on and yes ... the "on" button did go off and on even when the unit wasn't plugged in!

may of last year came and i had a dream whereby i was told to get rid of it ... permanently ...

woke up and thought what? dang thing wasn't cheap ... now to get rid of it?

paid no attention ... two weeks later the sound goes on it ... great ...

warranty was JUST over at that time (of course) and the repair people said it would cost just as much to repair the sound as it would to almost buy a new one ...

that night i had the same dream again ... was told that i wasn't listening ... that the toy was something to stay away from ...

so that was it for a practically new plasma tv ... had never replaced it ... haven't watched tv since last may ...

gotta tell ya though ... how REFRESHING ... feels like i'm free of that control ...

but whilst watching it always ... i never knew i WAS controlled ...

don't know it until one breaks away from it ... all is well ... better than actually ...

so that's my plasma experience franciejones ... same dang clickin went on ... and off ...

permanently ...

Also, if you become used to working with cameras everywhere like I am starting to, you learn that there can't always be someone watching those cameras completely, 24/7.

If this is a common occurence, i.e. cameras in Plasma tv's - and anyone here decides to chuck theirs out, perhaps you can crack it open 1st and photograph the camera and other innards inside?

I think I remember someone on this site did do this on a similar thread previously.

Well I watch Doctor Who, Top Gear, Lost and Heroes fairly religiously. I would say that if there was "the show" people on this forum should watch is Lost. It covers almost every topic in the metaphysical relm except ETs (though that could pop up at some point), and does it in a very realistic manner. So go watch Lost, folks. You'll suck it all up.

Hi francie, we don't have a plasma TV but we do have an LCD one. Our terrestrial picture is rat-**** and the digital one pixelates and breaks up if there is a storm going on between the gubbinses that relay the signal. Apart from that, we experience nothing else to complain about except a large proportion of program content.

The one utensil that we do have that, like your TV, makes clicking noises when not switched on, is our electric kettle. It's one of those cordless jobs that sit on a disc connected to the power. Especially disconcerting when you are sitting home alone reading a ghost story. I tend to pop a CD into the player and wind the volume up. The first time it happened what little hair I have stood on end. Not a pretty sight.

I ran through the lounge naked the other night from the bathroom to our bedroom - the TV didn't react but the mirror fell off the wall, scared the cr4p out of the cat who shot into the spare room to get under the bad. We'd forgotten to point out to her that we'd replaced the old bed with a divan bed that has drawers under it.

After she picked herself up and shook her head, she saw herself in that room's mirror and went bonkers again. We have polished floors and mats and as she tried to get traction on the mat, it wrinkled up behind her and she was going nowhere.

I felt guilty for laughing but some things just make you laugh. We now have a snub-nosed Persian cat that looks as mean as hell but is in fact a very placid critter.
