Default What's The Doctor talking about now?

I've always enjoyed Dr Who since I was young. However, I've noticed that since it started with Christopher Eccelsten, it's had a few not so subtle undertones, mostly about Britain being great.

For example, in the latest episode (link below), he makes a comment about how great Liverpool steel is.

There is another, possibly more sinister comment. 14 minutes in, he looks at a flower on Mars's first Earth base. He makes a comment:

'First flower in 10,000 years'

He also speaks ancient Martian.

The plot involves something nasty in the ice on Mars - something similiar to what a lot of whistleblowers have said. For example, Duncan O Finigan has said that we should not go there. Another whistleblower said that there was a base on MArs but after he went there, he felt a feeling of dread (future talk with David Wilcock).

What's he talking about? No one makes a comment about this. Little tidbits like this are all over scifi TV programs and films.

Apparently, we are not able to play that video link here in the states.

But I am a Dr Who fan too and can't wait to see how the new one is even though we are David Tennant fans!

Someone call? Oh, that David fellow. As far as the UK centric stuff, well the show is made in Britain (Wales), is made by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corp.), and is something people enjoy outside the UK for its Britishness. It would be nice if they could do a proper US episode "Daleks in Manhattan" was just plate shots, no actors went to NY). I wonder what Steven Moffatt is able to do with the show now filming with Matt Smith in regards to doing stuff outside the UK?

Malaros - Thanks for this interesting observation - I am going to keep an eye out on my travels too. Maybe others will have something to share about it, too.

I sure like Earth {I could do without a few of its people though! My kind of a reverse de-pop fantasy on 'alleged' warring de-poppers !}

Nastys from Mars huh ... sounds familiar ..

'Doom has a science fiction/horror theme and simple plot typical of such action games. A background story is given in the game's manual; the rest of the story is advanced with short messages displayed between each section of the game (called episodes), the action as the player character progresses through the levels, and some visual cues.

The player takes the role of a nameless space marine who has been punitively posted to Mars after assaulting his commanding officer, who ordered his unit to fire upon civilians. The Martian marine base acts as security for the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), a multi-planetary conglomerate, which is performing secret experiments with teleportation by creating gateways between the two moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos. The manual makes it clear that Phobos is considered by space marines to be the dullest assignment imaginable: "with no action for fifty million miles, your day consisted of suckin' dust and watchin' restricted flicks in the rec room." This all changes when the UAC experiments go horribly awry. Computer systems on Phobos malfunction, Deimos disappears entirely, and "something fragging evil" starts pouring out of the gateway, killing or possessing all UAC personnel. Responding to a frantic distress call from the overrun scientists, the Martian marine unit is quickly sent to Phobos to investigate, where the player character is left to guard the hangar with only a pistol while the rest of the group proceeds inside. Over the course of the next few hours, the marine hears assorted garbled radio messages, gunfire, and screams, followed by silence: "Seems your buddies are dead'
