Ok. got it. It was Atlantis. The scale is off. The pit was about half that size, and there was a violet glow emanating out from the pit. 12 men were standing around it equidistantly. The mood was serious. The upward spiraling helix was being traversed by accelerating sparkling particles, and the helix itself was being compressed and decompressed by a pulsing wave coming from the Train car sized purple crystal in the pit. The wave traveled up the helix like a caterpillar or inchworm. The domed roof, which was supported by the columns, was open at the top, and the pulsing helix disappeared off into space through it. The room was filled with a gut shaking vibration. I have no idea what the purpose was, and I wasn't participating. just observing. It was awesome.
