According to a Times Online article dated 9/6/09 parents in the UK can be deemed unstable and have their children taken away for questioning the medical care given to their children.
One example given is a mother whose child became partly paralysed after being given a cervical cancer vaccination. A social worker warned the mother that the child could be taken into care by local authorities if the mother continued to link her child’s condition with the vaccination. In another example a couple had all six of their children removed from their care after disputing the necessity of an invasive medical test. "Munchausen's syndrome by proxy" and "facititious illness syndrome" are mentioned as the medical conditions claimed to be afflicting parents who question the system.
