For any of us that keep a firm foot in the mainstream world, I think we know that being in the mainstream workforce can pose a challenge. 'Should I be myself, or should I keep mySelf a secret?'
I have always gone into mainstream jobs with no talk or revealing of my essential nature. Then somewhere down the road, when trusting relationships are built, I can be more of myself - slowly. I have seen the entire departments of where I work change (for the better) as a result of just being me and letting others be true to themselves and express their own spiritual sides. However, there are so many times that I wish we could just be fully who we are going into the mainstream. I see more and more that these days may be coming, but I have taken down my little web page before I interview for jobs so I don't get crossed off the list of candidates. I have my own business, but things can get slow these days and I actually like to work with a lot of people and pay my bills - so I will try and get a 2 or 3 day a week job. I found myself interviewing last week, pretty much promised the job, but then did not hear back - even when I left a message. I trust this outcome, but I sense it was the fear reaction I got from one of the interviewers. Now it's not only what I say I have to watch, but it seems it's just ME that is causing fear. I've read and believe that some people feel a quickening response in their DNA structure when they encounter certain adepts or spiritually attuned others, and just this quickening can cause within them an anxiety response that is read as "bad." So, even if you are just being present, people can get freaked out. Believe me, I'm pretty much grounded and real when I speak to people about work. Any thoughts? |
