As most visiting this site now days are just visitors I was wondering if it is possible to have a moderator post somewhere in the forum the IP addresses of NOGs, gov, and intel IP addresses.
In most forums of this type there is considerable discussion of who's IP address is visiting their forum. I for one would like to know out of the 139 on the forum right now who these groups might be. What's your thoughts? |

I can't answer any of those questions, but I can suggest if you want an answer to PM Gareth. I'm not seeing that he's getting in a lot of time reading the forum.
If your questions on the forum are not answered by a moderator I suggest a PM to a moderator you feel comfortable with, or use the report post button to send a message that all of us will get a copy of. I try to answer all the questions I do come across, but I might be able to look at only 5 or 10 threads a day. And sometimes I am just out of steam for writing an answer. Hope this helps. |

Hi Waterman,
Most coming to the site have always been visitors. Treat any site like a shop window. There are many that will pass by to have a look in, but fewer who actually enter in to the shop. People punch in to Google some theme and the sites pop up depending on the relevance of what the user is looking for. If what they are looking for is on our site, they will be directed here. If they're directed here and it isn't exactly what they want, they move on. As for IP adresses, I have my own site http://www.marketingyourmusic.net and have frequently been visited by US Government, Military, Russian Federation etc. This could be people who had a few minutes to spare on their lunch hour rather than spying on me I'm sure. One poster in the Avalon forums posted from a public library and was classed as a local county council in the UK, which of course it was, so we could be forgiven to beleive trhat this person was working for the county council, rather than just hanging around a public library using a free internet connection. I shouldn't worry about it too much. Best regards, Steve Quote:

Aloha Waterman,
The moderators can read all of the IPs of members and guests who are logged in. However each IP must be individually accessed and that process is very time consuming. Perhaps the administrator would have a better grasp of how to do this more quickly... so a request to Gareth would be worthwhile. I did just go over a few and the views are spread out across the globe.

The agencies ie intel folks we would be interested in have a unique IP address and it starts uniquely... would you like a list?

Dan, the Admin checks IPs when the first okay a members access to the forum. However, the person who did that is no longer here and the other person who could do that isn't here much either.
