We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth's climate.
The stakes are high for us and our children. Everyone should take part in the effort, and HOME has been conceived to take a message of mobilization out to every human being. ![]() ![]() Official site: http://www.home-2009.com/us/index.html Last edited by Luminari; 06-13-2009 at 06:27 AM. |

Great film
Its too bad that they weren`t thinking of this as the Amazon rainforest was being clear cut in areas to raise cattle and for farm land . And its really great to see them concerned about the earth ...... but still allow coal fired hydro plants to pump CO2 into the air And they love the earth so much they are willing to fly non stop chem trail planes into the air at times They love the Earth so much that they have stolen anything that could have reduced the energy consumption of humans and given us more time to delay this . ......... If it were not for greed we would be better off and yes I know Its my fault its your fault but heaven forbid them from ever stepping up and saying opps ! ..... We F*cked up, no they want us to believe they had nothing to do with it Strip Mining, deforestation, coal plants these were all our ideas . I don`t have the money to clear cut lands nor the desire I have watched as tiny consumer goods were over packaged Why ? so we could find them easier in the grocery store , If we really wanted them we can find them with out the packaging . Those that were in office and had a chance to do something about it when it counted shut their mouths and simply did nothing. RIGHT AL GORE |

Alot of the facts about the cattle industry I had heard from Thom Hartman's books: Last Hours Of Ancient Sunlight and they are also in the back of his book: The Prophet's Way both excellent books highly recommended. |

You know, if people really cared about the enviornment, there would be ZERO TOLERANCE for coal.
That's all I got to say. You may now end this thread. |

Just finished watching HOME and the message is...
"Its too late to be a pessimist" we have 10 years to turn things around... Guy Dauncey's website: www.earthfuture.com See http://www.youtube.com/homeproject and ![]() A hymn for the planet HOME is an ode to the planet's beauty and its delicate harmony. Through the landscapes of 54 countries captured from above, Yann Arthus-Bertrand takes us on an unique journey all around the planet, to contemplate it and to understand it. But HOME is more than a documentary with a message, it is a magnificent movie in its own right. Every breathtaking shot shows the Earth - our Earth - as we have never seen it before. Every image shows the Earth's treasures we are destroying and all the wonders we can still preserve. "From the sky, there's less need for explanations". Our vision becomes more immediate, intuitive and emotional. HOME has an impact on anyone who sees it. It awakens in us the awareness that is needed to change the way we see the world. (HOME embraces the major ecological issues that confront us and shows how everything on our planet is interconnected.) Synopsis In 200,000 years on Earth, humanity has upset the balance of the planet, established by nearly four billion years of evolution. The price to pay is high, but it is too late to be a pessimist: humanity has barely ten years to reverse the trend, become aware of the full extent of its spoliation of the Earth's riches and change its patterns of consumption. A People's Project By bringing us unique footage from the Earth and sharing with us his wonder and his concern, Yann Arthus-Bertrand lays a foundation stone for the world that, together, we must rebuild. The film HOME intends to shift people's perceptions, to make us aware of the tectonic movements at work and to incite us to act. We have a greater impact on the Earth than it can bear. We over-consume and are depleting the Earth's resources. From the air, it is easy to see the Earth's wounds. HOME simply sets out our current situation, while saying that a solution exists. The film's subtitle could be "It's Too Late To Be A Pessimist". We have reached a crossroads; important decisions must be taken to change our world. Everybody knows about what the film says, but nobody wants to believe it. So HOME adds its weight to the argument of environmental organizations that we need a common sense approach to change our consumerist way of life. On June 5th More than a movie, HOME will be a major event around the globe: for the first time ever, a film will be released on the same day in over 50 countries. June 5th 2009, World Environment Day has been chosen as the highly symbolic date for this simultaneous, and free of charge, release on every format: movie theatre, TV, DVD and Internet. The aim of director Yann Arthus-Bertrand, distributor Luc Besson and François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of PPR, the film's official sponsor, is to reach the widest possible audience, and to convince us all of our individual and collective responsibility towards the planet. __________________________________________________ __ With the power of 10 billion butterfly sneezes....Moody Blues |

This was a very inspiring and beautiful film.
A good one to share with as many people on the planet as possible! It is imperative this message gets out there... we never know who will be prompted to take action and influence our collective destiny! ![]() |

Absolutely beautiful photograhy. Very good message. I was concerned that it was going to be another Al Gore thing about half way through, but it was well balanced at the last. I give it a thumbs up..

![]() ![]() We live in such a throw away society. Everything that is produced uses so much packaging, materials that can't be recycled and are produced cheaply so that their longevity is short. Corporations only worry about the next 90 day profit / loss situation and operate with no concern about the future. We as consumers shop accordingly, trying to save as much money and buy the cheap throw away products. Plastics are an environmental nightmare as they don't decompose and do not burn without letting off toxins into the atmosphere. Look at the pacific ocean between california and hawaii. There is a floating dump of plastic containers , bags, etc that have been washed out to sea. Never to break down. Appliances are designed to only last 10 years, and the old ones have no value so off to the dump, wasting more valuable resources. There is no way that the world can continue at its current pace of stripping minerals/fossil fuel etc and not wipe out mankind within the next century. Change is enivitable and either we embrace it and prosper in a new paradigm or resist it and earth becomes a waste land. Earth (Gaia) has much more power than humans and will not allow itself to be destroyed. It is like man is poking a sleeping tiger. ![]() |

Beautiful photography and a good 'state of the environment' video. I just wish they would stop with the CO2 disinformation, it is not the cause of warming, the exact opposite it true, higher temperatures produce more CO2. So i cant see how global warming is 'man-made', except that deforestation is prob a contributing factor. This carbon footprint nonsense is just lining the pockets of the world banks etc...
