PLOT: Christmas Eve, 1851 ..... and Cybermen stalk the snowy streets of Victorian London! When the Doctor arrives to investigate a spate of mysterious deaths, he is surprised to meet another Doctor. The two Doctors combine forces to battle the evil Miss Hartigan and the ruthless Cybermen. But are two Doctors enough to stop the rise of the CyberKing?

On 25 December 2008, the BBC aired "The Next Doctor" in the United Kingdom. The episode was the U.K.'s 2nd most-watched programme on Christmas Day, netting 13.1 million viewers and over 50% of the viewing market.

Starting in 2010, the 11th Doctor will be played by Matthew Smith.

i've been a HUGE doctor who fan since i got hooked in britain in the '70s.
unfortunately, since i don't have telivision, i have to wait until bbc sells the entire series each year, so i'm always scared silly of spoilers. i don't get to see them for almost a year. i do have all 4 new seasons and about 60 classic episode dvd's.
i look forward to seeing what matthew smith brings to the role, but i'll have to wait for a year or more.

Jon Pertwee was my favourite when i was a miniature-the sea devils when they went in the submersible peering in through the portholes had me whacked!!lol.

Ah my namesake is now part of the forum. Excellent. Just a note, they are currently filming the first of the 4 specials, which will be David Tennant's last. Former Bionic Woman Michelle Ryan will be the companion for the Easter special they are currently doing.
