| Picture I took tonight of an unidentified object

All exif data is attached to the original of this picture for examination from interested parties. It has a half second exposure on a small, hand held Olympus camera. I was trying to take pictures of the house at night time (we have new lights on the windows) and saw this smallish (finger nail at arms length) green/yellow object slowly drifting over head. It stopped dead for about ten seconds, and then appeared to switch all its illumination off. I then lost it to the naked eye. |

That's crazy egg if it floated then stopped and vanished. It appears to have some sort of structure to it around the illuminated 'halo'.

Yeah it did to the naked eye too. It was like it was all lit up underneath - beautiful to look at, with the creamy light having that green to it. I only managed to get the longer exposure because it halted overhead - had it of been moving the picture would of been smeary. Oh and if I use software to alter the contrast / brightness, there is a definate inner structure to it - even in the original you can see the defined six sided shape in the centre. If you need me to, I can post a more defined version. Last edited by Egg; 01-24-2009 at 07:44 PM. |

Just made the black stand out a bit more so we can see the six sided shape in the centre, and that strange triangular shape in the middle. Theres certainly something in the centre of the light that looks like a very purposeful structure. Lit up one layer, played with the darkness in another, merged the two so that you can see both the inner and outer detail at once. Last edited by Egg; 01-24-2009 at 10:19 PM. |

The structure inside looks like the inside of the object in the footage of the traingle object video. http://www.incahoots.tv/features/200...rts1/video.htm Last edited by Helvetic; 01-24-2009 at 11:22 PM. |

The picture is from a really small compact camera and with a 20 mm focal length - what that means is that there is no zooming in at all on it - the original picture shows the object very clearly albeit smallish. Had i of had the bigger zoom camera out tonight the mind boggles at what i could of captured! |

8 inch scope and a T ring conveter would be awesome for those little lights I keep seeing on the moon though.

Wowser, what i wouldn't do for a nice nikon and an 8 inch scope to do a proper job on the moon - theres some really interesting activity on the surface with flashes and weird lights crossing the face and over the edges in the last month. Dammit, I knew I should of paid for a camera and scope! |

Nice picture, Egg. I swear that I've seen odd things in the sky but I never have a camera handy whenever this happens. |

As it was it was sheer chance. The wife installed these new lights in the window and wanted a picture of them, hence why iw as outside at that moment. Am going to have to invest in a better camera too!
