In the spirit of the season (and I take the point that spirit should last all year) I'm going against my better judgement and posting this. It's the only poem I've ever written, it was a few years ago now and I feel it represents those who don't really connect with the festivities. Enjoy, and season's greetings to all.
Christmas is a time of giving
Living well and loving living
Joy and drinking all day long
Listening to old Christmas songs
Decorations, lights and holly
Christmas is so very jolly
Santa on his magic sleigh
Dumping presents on his way
Baby Jesus, Joseph, Mary
All so jaded, ordinary
Time to find a different tale
This one seems so very stale
Where’s the guns, excitement, dangers?
Battles with the Texas Rangers?
Stuff this message of goodwill
I want blood and guts to spill!
Alien landings, not damned mangers
Red hot sex with total strangers!
Mindless violence without end
Christmas drives me round the bend!
