I hav`nt looked at the web links (whoops)

In my opinion religion was a guideline long ago to direct people. In this day and age it is seen as too old. We are now growing into a new direction that doesnt forget these writings. If anything, without all that stuff we wouldnt have been able to move on to what we are now. It worked back then, right now its a kind of benchmark to assist us in going further and forward.
