Default Re: Living on Light Research

Here is some additional info on sungazing for those who are interested...

Can I hurt my eyes?

Maybe. Some folks have certainly burned their retinas. Be careful. If the sun is too bright, don't stare at it. Your belief system is very important. When firewalkers walk on hot coals they believe that their feet will be fine, that the energy coming from the fire will be beneficial to them. Some firewalkers get burned…some do not. The same is true with Sungazers. If you feel and believe that the purity of the sun will benefit you to the core-gaze on. Again, if it is too bright-don't push and don't force it. You may also find that if you completely surrender and relax your physical jaw as well as the mental tick tock of your thoughts the brightness of the sun will diminish. If you resist the suns energy it may become too hot and you could burn your retinas (just like a resistor on an electrical wire). If you are open minded without resistance the sun's purifying energy will flow into each and every one of your cells. Be patient and go slowly, and remember that right at sunrise and sunset sun you will find the sun at its most tranquil moment of the day. Interestingly enough, one of the most effective ways to treat eye problems is to spit in them. Really. Your spit is best, you can actually buy little spit receptacles that are designed to best deliver the spit onto the eye, or just use any little container. Especially useful to heal the eye of cataracts. Saliva breaks down proteins. Cataracts are essentially protein build up on the surface of the eye. Learning about the ‘Bates’ methods of vision correction can also be very helpful.

What if I don't have bare earth to stand on?

I have shared what I learned and what worked for me. Standing on bare earth worked for me. There seems to be something magical about feeling the raw earth with your bare feet, being attached to the north and south energy fields. In stating this, I will also say I have viewed the sun from just about everywhere. Standing inside a house looking through a window, standing on grass, on sand, in mud, in water, on a rock, on the snow. I have sat in a tree, looked though leaves, through fog, through clouds. I have watched the sunrise from a plane, a car and a boat, from sea level from 14,000 feet and everywhere in-between. Energetically I picture myself as a battery (the heavens and earth, north and south poles), envisioning this may enable us to be anywhere and benefit from the effects of the sun light. Also I believe standing on magnets can generate even more energy coursing though our cells. A couple times I have used the magnetic soles that go in shoes. I caution people in using this method, there have been many times the energy seemed too much…remember, this is only my experience…be careful, be present and your body will tell you everything you need to know. Stand where ever you wish and let me know your results, I am curious to learn what works and what doesn't. I was surprised to find out how many parks cities have, as well as how many pieces of dirt are all around us. If standing in your neighbors vegetable garden works for you-great! Just remember to thank them.

Can I go faster?

Maybe? I am not sure, as I have said before I have only commented on what worked for me. 10 seconds a day increments. I was told to go slowly. This will be my recommendation to all. GO SLOWLY! Many of the changes you will experience both mentally and physically are substantial; they will affect many relationships you have, not only with other people (friends and family), but also with yourself. Take the time to process these changes-in the long run patience may benefit you greatly. Focus on the road not the destination, enjoy the process of the present-you will get to where you are going soon enough.

What if the weather does not permit sungazing?

The rains will come, the fog will block out the sun, clouds will fill the horizon, and some days you simply will not feel like gazing. What happens if you miss a couple of days? No problem. When the next clear sunrise presents itself, start right where you left off. If you were at 8 minutes and 30 seconds and you miss a couple days; it is ok. You never go backwards. If you happen to miss a few weeks, a month, a year…it is ok. Say you were at 20 minutes. You take some time off. To begin again, go slowly; remember, always to listen to your body, listen to your heart. Gaze for a couple days at 5 minutes, then a couple days at 10 minutes…progress slowly until you are back at 20 minutes and then proceed again at the ten second per day increase until you reach 44 minutes. To be able to stare into the sun for an extended period of time a couple of things may have to take place. First is a belief system that everything will be ok (this is the most important). The second, each body is wired a bit differently (energetically and physiologically)…slow and steady wins the race. Too much too fast; you could damage something, or miss a stepping-stone in understanding the power you are receiving.div>

When does the sun rise/set?

As you may know these times change daily, and will differ from location to location. Times can be found in the paper every day. Personally I use the Internet. I type in the zip code at yahoo-weather for where ever I am going to be. I never stare at the sun past an hour of sunrise or before the hour of sunset based on these figures. I follow these guidelines because this is what I was told and because I cherish my vision too much to challenge this instruction.

Why 44 minutes?

I don't know. It is what I was told. More minutes may hurt your eyes-and 44 minutes is enough to charge your mind. If you are able to levitate and talk to God within 44 minutes of Sungazing-fantastic, and it would be my guess that 44 minutes is probably enough. I am currently at 36 minutes…time will tell.

What do I do after 44 minutes?

You will know what to do. But since that is impossible to explain since you are not there yet. You will practice keeping this charge by whatever means work for you. Some folks just meditate with a focus on their pineal gland (6th charka), some walk on bare earth, without shoes for 44 minutes to an hour a day. Some are able to keep the charge just by being in the sunlight for a couple minutes a day. Many questions are unanswerable…we are all different beings, what works for some people may not work for you, and what works for you may not work for anyone else. You will find your way soon enough and that will be perfect.

How will my diet change?

One thing is certain, what you ingest will change. For one, alcohol will go, smoking will go, many processed and toxic foods will leave you. Sungazing seems to create an awareness you can't escape; suddenly you may end up chewing a Twinkie 50 chews per bite. I promise, when this happens, and you taste and feel all there is to experience in a Twinkie dinner…that will be the last Twinkie you ever eat. As your cells increase their overall health you may feel some of the negative effects of eating processed food. You also may notice how carbohydrates and starches take a while to digest which might encourage you to eat dinner earlier to aid in restful sleeping.

Will my sleeping pattern change?

Yes, as you reach 20 minutes and up you will need less and less sleep. After you complete the practice, your body will only need 3-4 hours of sleep a night.

Is it true you can live without food?

A very popular question. Plenty of folks live without food in many parts of the world, and most of them took different paths to reach this state of energetics. Personally this is not a goal of mine (I love ice cream too much). Yes the body needs energy; remember you can get energy from many places: food, emotions, other people, air, water, thoughts, ideas and the sun. I still eat a little bit (very little bit), mostly for entertainment, certainly not because I am hungry. I was told food leaves you…and it definitely is leaving me. I'll get back to you in November (written on Aug5th, at 35 minutes of SunGazing).

Can sungazers conceive and pro-create?

Yes. HRM said there is a couple in India that had completed the sungazing practice and had been without food for a few years. They conceived with no trouble, nine months later the mother gave birth to a healthy child. The woman’s body made ample breast milk for as long as the child breast-fed. Amazing.

Can children sungaze?

Yes and no. Only those old enough to understand should be informed of sungazing. Yes children can sungaze, but they must do it willingly. And they must be able to understand what they are doing and why they are doing it..

If sungazing is the first stage what are the next stages?

I'll let you know when I get there. I have been told the sky is the limit. Whatever you wish to be can be. It is up to you to decide where this path will take you. I assure you all these questions will become clear at your completion of 45 minutes of Sungazing.

How does sungazing work?

There are many theories within the pages of www.sungazing.com, please take the time to read them all-most of it is fantastic information with far reaching implications. How does sungazing work? The 'how', is not as important to me as the fact that it does. In Chinese Medicine we practice on the functionality of the energetics rather than the 'why'. If it works, it works. Embrace it, love it, and work with it. Better yet expand on it, and become present with it so it becomes yours. Then it will be yours and yours forever, that way no one can take it away from you. Many folks get rapped up in trying to understand; interestingly enough these are the same people who never get out of bed in the morning and sungaze.

Where did I learn about sungazing?

A man by the name of Shri. Hira Ratan Manek came to Berkeley, CA to lecture on world peace (I did not attend the lecture, others told me about it). His platform was discussing people's hungers. If we can control our hungers we can control our fate, our happiness. He touched on all our hungers: the hunger of pride, of ego, of tradition. He spoke of our hunger for love, most importantly of self-love. If we love ourselves completely our view of the world will come from a place of purity, with love and compassion, communication and understanding. The pinnacle of his speech was the conversation surrounding food, the ability to live without food. Sungazing is the doorway to make all of this very possible and very real. More information about Shri. Hira Ratan Manek can be found here.

How do I learn more about sungazing, general health, or athletic performance?

The best way is to begin staring at the sun each morning. Otherwise you can contact me for treatments, lectures, coaching and consultations.
