Default Re: October 14, 2008, Galactic Federation of Light First Contact Announcement - A FAK

Another thought for the original Poster here (Sorry Mark!),

Everyone here knows this type of event has been promised before and has not come to pass. We WANT to believe. It has nothing to do with logic or common sense. I appreciate your stance and I see the validity of your words - however it's kinda like telling a kid there is no Santa---on Christmas Eve.

Quote:
On Christmas Eve, Apollo 8 arrived at the Moon and made a successful burn which put them in orbit around the Moon. That evening, they broadcast a very moving message back to those of us back on Earth.

On Christmas Day it was time to make the all important burn that would place them on a trajectory that would return them home--to Earth. The burn would take place on the far side of the moon, so the people on Earth would not know if the burn was successful until they heard Jim Lovell's voice say "Please be advised there is a Santa Claus!"

Splashdown occurred on the morning of December 27, 1968.

I wonder what the crew of Apollo 8 saw on the dark side of the Moon, because hey, I doubt it was a man in a red suit with a white beard.
