I would like to make a quick point here. The material in the galaxies is NOT being thrown outward. Stars in galaxies spiral around the center of the galaxy and are actually being gradually "pulled in" toward the center. Although the big bang can be characterized as an explosion as the universe is expanding -- galaxies are definitely NOT explosions.
