When you nominate yourself it makes it more about you and less about the idea of an election, hence the popularity contest remark. And I still don't see how "I don't know" (or cluelessness as you revised) corresponds to porn in any way.

p.s. elections are normally secret ballots.
Raulduke,

I agree with you. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I thought about starting a thread titled "should we elect our mods" or something like that. But I thought throwing myself out as a candidate would get people thinking about it quicker than starting a debate thread. I knew I couldn't win - that was part of the fun.

I think the people who inhabit Avalon should get together and nominate someone they think will moderate fairly. That was the seed I was trying to plant with this thead - and will continue to fight for until the bitter end (i.e., Dec. 1). Just wait for my concession speech - it will be a doozy . . .

Unless, of course, I can get a few hundred "yes" votes - then the victory thing will force me to draft a victory speech.

Anyway, I see the wisdom in your words, and I concede that my approach to the issue was not all that well thought out.

Thanks for the reality check, Happy Thanksgiving, and thanks for the vote.
