There are cheaper 1-yr packages available, but they're probably not as good.
This site has 2 packages; one is $750 and the other is $1000.
If that's still too much money I would print out a list of several of these package contents and just buy a little at a time, and you'll be well ahead of most people. Almost any plan is better than no plan.

I'd say you've still got about 4, maybe 6 months before things get bad.
