OF COURSE it's not a hoax.. a CUT OFF SATELLITE CONNECTION. Who has the power to do so? And why would it be done? I'll leave that to your imagination.
Turn on your empathy and put yourself in his situation.
Your a smart guy, you've studied some technologic science or other and aced it. SG-Profilers find you suitable for the task and you are recruited to work in a secret government-program. They fly you out to a51.
Your all excited to go there because you want to find out what all the fuss on a51 really is about. In the course of your work there you find out more than you bargained for... and it's WAY SINISTER than your wildest Nightmares! And... it's reality..
You see technology there that, to put it mildly, "exceeds your expectations".
What the people think of as aliens are actually Extradimensional Beings(Demons perhaps? or the "Heralds of Doom" which the Kolbrin Bible depicts... who knows) whom have a plan in store for mankind. And they... mean.. BUSINESS!
Disasters are coming that will conveniently wipe out most of the clueless population...and so on, so forth..
It's all so twisted that you just can't get your mind around it. I mean
a couple of months ago you lived on earth and all of a sudden you realize
you're in the twilight zone.
You manage to get out of this hellhole by being "let go" on a medical discharge. But they don't just let you go like that because you have been subject to valuable information. They chip you and tell you if you open your mouth they can track you down within a minute(needless to say what they "DO" to "Liabilities").
Your all confused.. running across the country from town to town... feeling painfully miserable, downing pills but still not being able to get any sleep or even to eat. Not knowing what to do about this whole nightmare that you can't wake up from. You cry more than you used to. So in one of those days your in the car again driving to.. just wherever.. at least it gives you a faint soothing feeling of escaping. You've got the radio on and Art Bell is doing a show on a51.. The awful feeling comes up again and you realize there IS no escape, you just can't live with this terrible notion and in an impulse-moment you decide to call! As the call goes through alot of thoughts suddenly go through your mind.. now more intense than before.. thoughts on what they're going to do to you for this.. thoughts about dying today.
You're very nervous and afraid because you know you "don't have alot of time"! You're crying and laughing at the same time.. crying because you know this will be the last call you'll ever make.. laughing because you yourself are still in disbelief that all this is really happening.

THATS what the first call sounds and feels like. You can hear the pain in his heart, the fear in the shivering of his voice. I dunno guys sounds quite genuine to me. The second caller totally doesn't.
