The last one - I think you mentioned it being in Spring - felt surprisingly strong, even if it wasn't.

It travelled all the way down to the London area. I was awake at the time and there was a sort of thundering noise and I could see the walls of my house judder. Eeeek!!

I've managed to be in two similar circumstances - once in Italy and then again in Germany. I have no idea where the Italian one originated but what we felt in Germany was the aftershock of a huge earthquake in the one-time Yugoslavia. Everything rattled and rolled about for a few seconds - I thought the foundations of the building I was in at the time were giving way. Threre were four of us all trying to get out of the door and down the stairs at the same time

The UK does have minor quakes but I thought I'd add that after-shocks from epicentres in another country can travel and feel quite 'quaky', too riginal
