The reason you may want to curtail your sexual activity is that somehow it depletes your energy levels thus limiting greatly your experiences. Personally I have found this to be the case. In addition, if you read the experiences by Robert Monroe he realized this early on during his OBE's. So, this is isn't related to any religious or dogma but from a pure energetical standpoint.
