I'm wondering if the lights were beamed over an army base.
There have been reports of missiles being turned off by beams from ships on few occasions, one during test a launch even, and if there isn't any missiles there, its could be that they are secret.... maybe.
Remember Rendlesham forest for example, cant remember the others off the top of my head, i think it was on the disclosure project.
