I was just about to write a topic on this myself. I developed this in February/08.
I meditate off and on as well, but more importantly I have been doing much personal spiritual work over the years and have developed another few strange things such as inadvertantly I was zapping friends with energy using the wrong hand gesture and stuff during conversations, and recently I have mistakingly placed thoughts into minds at the store and stuff like this. You know I am mentally debating two donuts and I say one, and they bring the other one, simple stuff. There is alot of stuff on the move right now, as we will go through it.
In my case in February I was watching the Pleiadians information on YouTube and the information on DNA blockage. I made up my own little meditation and meditated to the Pleiadians asking for contact and help in unblocking any DNA that might be blocked.
Three nights later I awoke from my sleep with a intense tone and warm energy so loud it was like a sledge hammer hit me. It was omni present, and happened to be one day from a full moon at the time. I staggered from my bed, and went to call 911 since I thought it was an aneurysm. Since that day I hear the tone 24/7, and although those first two hours were very intense. Eventually a hot chocolate from the coffee shop and endless driving a around my city until daylight kept my sanity.
That intensity happened for about 6 weeks until I figured out how to get it turned down. I meditated and asked for it to be turned down, and a few days later it complied. Whatever it is.
Now during that time period I like you became fearful. I was worried that it was some form of mind control, since there was a new cell tower down the street, and when I walked out my door the energy often hit me like this large high frequency wave as if in the air. Although I heard it all the time, it became almost unbearable when I went outside..
For a long time I though it was tinnitus. One night though a friend came over and as usual around 11:00pm it started to come on strong again. When the movie ended I turned off my TV, and was sitting there chatting when my friend says "your tv is on" and jumps off the couch to turn it off. Like a knee jerk reaction. So I said, no it is a LCD TV, no high frequency tube. I had to turn off and unplug everything in the house to show him there was nothing on, and eventually the noise disturbed him so much he had to leave.
As we left that night I noticed as I walked by the plasma bulbs in the hallway I would get a pain in my head and the plasma would flicker. So whatever it is I suspect at that time my Crown Chakra was extremely large and actually projected very far past normal. That is the only time I affected the lights that way, and it it the only time someone in my presence hear the tone along with me, although since that night he claims he heard the tone off and on in the middle of the night, but does no longer. I suspect him in my presence elevated his sensitivity to it for a few days and then he flat lined to normal. He meditates and prays everyday as well, and I think it is more than that.
During that initial stage I became very fearful and sought out help. A few weeks before it happened I went for one of those new flu shots for people who are Elderly or who have health risk, which is my care. I became fearful I was implanted with something, but now I do not believe that is the case. However to humor my son due to his concern, I went to Ear, Nose and Throat specialists to check for abnormalities or infections, of which there was none. At my insistence they scheduled me for a CT scan, which was done just a few weeks ago, to which there no abnormalities.
A few months later one night, I got this constant urge to take the trash outside. When I did that I noticed a bright star, which I just assumed it was a star, but it did not look right. It seemed to orbit along with the moon which confused me. I recorded that and actually felt that I could communicate with it, even more screwed, but I had seen that video with James Gilliand, "Contact Has Begun", so I got my camera and in the camera it looked more like a plasma ball. And when I asked it to, it seemed to flare up with energy circling around it's outside. I consider that night a first contact.
The a few months later due to a series of events, mostly of my own doing, I ended up deciding to sleep in my half ton for a month under the stars, and ended up meditating later at night alot. Often this star was handy and twice strange things happened to kind of weirded me out, so I backed away. One was a horizontal fireworks streamer right in from of me, with not a person in site, over the ocean basin in from of me just a few hundred feet away. the second was a round ball type glowing object like a falling star, but close to me, and it went almost completely horizontal.
So for a few months I backed away from this star being a light ship idea, because it sounded crazy to be honest. Then on Youtube I met another person who hears this frequency as well when meditating and he is currently calling in UFO in New York through intention. He also has a fancy set of green lasers that he claims they find curious.
So inspired by him a few weeks ago, I went out night with my little dollar store red laser and pointed it around and stuff at the ones I thought might be ships, but honestly I felt crazy out there at 2am all alone. Plus it is kind of creepy as well. So I think, "I bet if I had one of those nice green lasers you would notice me", in a joking manner and go home.
So here I was in bed and this impressing thought hit me, like the time months before to take the garbage out, that my car was parked on the wrong side and might get towed. The thought would not go away, so I get dressed at like 3:30am and come out and as I near the street with the keys in my hand I look up and here is this perfect large laser bar of green in the sky, horizontal. Looked about 200 feet up, and say 50 feet wide. It just sat there in the clouds, and that bright star was shining through the clouds as well.
I was really dumb founded and stood there in the middle of the street, keys in hand, and then I noticed a police car sitting there right next to me, I suspect watching it to. So I was in a quandry do I tell the police, and was debating this and decided to, but as I went to approach the police it sort of just compressed on itself and went away.
So there you have it, what does it mean. Well I think you are being worked with, you are receiving an upgrade. I recently gave them permission to up the strength which they have, so it is much louder everyday. Possibly you have some ET ships in your area, and you quite possible if you listen be contacted.
And it is important to share these things. For example I mediate with the Share International people and a person there said, so I guess they told you, you don't need the laser they can hear your thoughts. LOL So true.
My suggestion, go with it. Do not let fear get you. I suspect that this is what you wanted on some level, and you are getting it, a spiritual upgrade.
Now some people reading this might wonder, why does this never happen to me, or why am I not hearing it. A person would have to know what I have been through in the past 8 years which forced me to push through many boundaries, which ended up with a few bouts of homelessness, etc.
Also as I type most of my stuff is in storage, and I am currently renting or rooming with people, getting ready to shift to the country in a year or so. I am literally on the edge in my thoughts, I have it all on the line, and travel in my truck with a bed mat, sleeping bag, and water so I can go where I want when I want and do what I want, and I take contracts that support that lifestyle.
And I think that as a result of putting myself out there, I am attracting the involvement of higher conciousness's. If you put yourself on the line and remove yourself from the ancoring activities and energy of the current dogma of this planet, you can have these experiences if you wish, or not, your choice.
Note: I think you will find if you place yourself near a high end condenser microphone, 48KHZ or higher, and record it while you walk away, you will see you are actually broadcasting static.

Questions:
1. What is it? a tone or signal being eminated by TPTB to scrambel our thoughts?
2. A frequency being eminated by the Universe and a sign of the shift?
I wanted to see if it was in my head or not so I got it to be pretty loud by focusing in on it, then I plugged my ears and it went away. It is an external signal or frequency and it is 24/7..
Will some of you please try to hear it and report back. If this is wide spread, we need to figure out how to figure otu what frequency it is and if there is a way to tap into it. It is obviously in the human audible range but at the very cusp of it. You don't even notice it unless you are listening for it. It is coming in loud and clear right now as I type.
