The funny thing about past lives is that some of the decisions we made then are still with us today and going back, say, 16000 years ago (for example) helps one to see what the decision was and thus no longer be unconsciously controlled by that decision.
I just came out of session and one deep dish apple crumb pie (I'm always hungry after a good session). I did go back about 16,000 years and took a very close look (my eyeballs doing the REM motion). After I ran out the negatives I realized what a nice life I had then. I just should have come up with a better way to keep the pesky hominids out of my fruit trees, but overall it was a well balanced lifestyle from a material viewpoint, not spiritual.
The looking work I am doing now makes up for all the lifetimes I let it slide.
The hilarious Bashar is right when he says that our responses are more important than the event itself.

I had a dream I was shot in the head several times. I remember the feeling of drifting out and it was this feeling of happyness and freedom, yet regret that I couldn't do the things I wanted to in this lifetime. It was at that moment in the dream where I guess I was able to live because I desired it. I was walking down the street later and my attacker saw me and was amazed, ha. Cool dream.
I haven't had any past life recalls of that nature, I imagine I could be shielding myself.
