Ireland has rejected the Lisbon treaty on the new E.U constitution, in the only referendum to be held by any country on the issue. This has totally messed their plan up. Most people were a bit sick of the continuing European Uber state and they wanted to poke a stick in the governments eye. Nobody in the Government could explain exactly what were the implications of the treaty because it was written in legal jargon nonsense but they insisted we vote on it anyway.

They are now talking of having another referendum because we obviously made a mistake the first time, You have to love the illusion of democracy.
I dont think people are against a European Union it's the
" Absolute power corrupts absolutely " element that puts us off.
