Interesting perspectives on this thread. I will go out on a limb and make a prediction: there will be a split. Actually, it's already happening, in particular in the military. Google or search YouTube for Adam Kokesh. Here's one of his speeches:

How many more of him are in the police or the military? There will always be mindless sadistic goons that will never pass up an opportunity to hurt someone, but others are committed to the American Constitution and will fight on the side of the people. I feel that ultimately the good guys will win, after much turmoil, and we will emerge a greater nation. Adam says soldiers have a right and a duty to disobey illegal orders.

Let's hope many of them get his message.
