I'm pretty sure that if ape tasted as good as pig, there'd be ape ranches- regardless of them being our ancestors. There are plenty people out there who really couldn't care less.
The only reason there aren't a lot of commercial deer farms are that they don't produce enough meat to make it cost effective. Oh yeah, that and the movie 'Bambi'...
