Of course I was a teenager (err..Mean-Ager) and knew everything back then.
I would not accept his words then but, I fully understand them and accept them now...

Take some pictures out of the good safe examples and just pick those ones. I remember being told (a very long time ago now lol) that fungus growing on wood is usually safer than the ground varieties...not sure if that's a fact or not ofc.
I'm surprised no-ones mentioned truffles actually, if you can get them they're a great way to make a fair bit of money nevermind the food value
