Not entirely true.
Some Physicists believe that the worst thing that could happen would be the creation of strangelets. These strangelets could migrate to the center of the earth and completely change earth's matter.
One scenario discussed and debated is strangelets changing earth's gravity - causing everything on earth to suddenly weigh significantly more than at present.
Imagine weighing so much that you cannot move. Imagine trees and even mountains crumbling under their own weight.
Think it's too weird?
One interesting aspect of the Physicists discussion on this is that they are not debating whether it COULD happen (most agree it's possible) - but rather the PROBABILITY of this occurring.
