It is beginning to make sense... either reacting to circumstances placed before you and/or the choices you make based on your understanding of the strength of confidence you have in your own self-empowerment to effect the outcome of that path/timeline in your favor- or purposeful thought! Like the branches of a tree all exisitng as part of the one and are all experiences of the whole tree. Over time many new branches are grown and the tree takes on its own character of itself, while certainly balancing out through all directions to form its shape. I think the phrase "Tree of Life" has a relevant meaning to this analogy.
