I've had a similar experience recently.
I feel asleep around 2 am and had a dream of something massive flying through my kitchen window. A jolt of fear woke me up after 45 minutes. As I woke up, I felt a feeling of lightness resonating through me.
As I opened my eyes, there was a black disk with a short cylinder on it's bottom side, surrounded by sky and trees in the center of my vision, as well as everything in my room. I assumed that someone was trying to talk to me, but given that I was initially scared in my dream, I refused to communicate. If the presence was benevolent, it wouldn't have surprised me.
What confused me the most was that I was seeing this image with my eyes open as well as my room, and as I would look at the walls, the image stayed fixated in the upper center of my vision. I didn't know that dream imagery can still be seen with one's eyes open. I still don't know what to make of it, although a dream would be the most reasonable explanation for this.
But the most interesting parallel between your and my experiences is that that I'm also from the Balkans.
