When I was a kid there was an expression we used, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me."
But then, when I was a kid, we weren't molly-coddled from cradle to grave. If we broke the rules, we got punished. It didn't take too much punishment to make it obvious that names don't hurt in the slightest. But in this day and age, punishment seems to be mostly by words so we have a world populated by wimps that can't take name calling in their stride.
Bring back the strap or cane or a clip behind the ears. That's the way to imunise kids against name calling.
