Well, let's break this down:

Silver and gold is a good investment, no matter what happens.

Food, you can eat it, so no problem there.

Heaters are always good to have.

Website subscriptions...well better than spending it on porn. Consider it entertainment.

So it is really your relationships and reputation that concerns you. Perhaps your friends and family consider you a bit "lunatic", but would it be better if you were a raging alcoholic who hurt people?

If the worst doesn't happen (and we all pray that it does not happen) just tell everyone you were concerned about their well-being, but that it looks like the danger has passed. And go back to living your life.
