I just came across this and I thought relevent!
From Paul’s point of view it was – if not evil, close to it. She was shown an underground cavern with human or humanoid parts in there. He saw this as part of the negative and evil E. T.s and Paul wondered if the government were keeping it all closed up out of fear. Or, even worse, Paul Bennewitz wondered if the underground military governmental complex was hiding information in league with the bad E. T.s who mutilated animals and abducted the mother and son in the beam of light.
