Most definitely. One always has to take into account what agenda a person might have. Words alone mean nothing.
I come from a background of psychology. As a therapist, one of the first things we learn is to read a person through their body language, as well as their known history. Without being able to see the whole person as much as possible, there is little one can do to help them.
Does that mean we should believe everything someone says simply because of who they are? Certainly not. But does it have bearing on how the message is, and should be, taken? Most definitely.

If it were indeed "prejudice," I would agree with you. However, I'm talking here about making an informed decision. This is actually the opposite of "prejudice."
