Re: Goodbye Avalon
Each person brings who they are to the forums. Bill and Kerry are adventurers going forth gathering information to share with everyone else so that folks can take that info and make it work for them in how they see fit.
Camelot is the place for gathering knowledge, discusing it and digesting it.
Avalon are for the folks ready to take the next step which is to move forward toward becoming creators, pioneers for this new frontier.
I am sitting listening to an expert talking about how oil is now down to a 2 percent oil reserve. If everyone topped out their gas tanks today, a third would not be able to get any gas. The fuel isn't there. Next is the whole financial issue with banks failing and Wall Street wanting us, the taxpayer, to financially bail them out and leaving Main street holding the bag. The reality of what is going on in our world is exceptionally serious.
Doom? Gloom? Let's face it. Reality sucks. Our way of life is in the process of undergoing a major change. Unfortunately, some folks will choose to go into the roll of victim as compared to the role of the activist.
Each person has a choice about how they are going to respond to these changes. The next crisis will make the price of oil go up even more. People will need motor scooters or electric bicycles, electric cars, etc.
The next thing is we don't know how bad this is going to affect the infra structure. No oil, no gas, no trucks to move food. The more folks are into the self-reliance mode the better off they will be. The message from Miriam was to grow your own food to be self-sufficient. The task folks need to focus on is SELF-SUFFICIENCY. Avalon is about self-sufficiency. A kitchen garden is what is going to keep folks alive. Knowing the basics, like our ancestors did, is what is needed now.
