Does that make sense to anyone?
Yea, it makes a lot of sense, Mike. It is hard to go from a typical "western lifestyle" and straight to meditation. That is why I recommend yoga as a bridge. Yoga will calm the body and thus the mind and you will get a taste of meditation with regular practice. When you have a taste of clarity it will be easier to just sit down and meditate. The restless ego/mind will already have been prepared and somewhat put into place by the glimpses of the beyond. At least enough so that you will KNOW that there is something juicy and nurishing in there that is worth looking for. The ego/mind will thus have a harder time convincing you that "this is silly/waste of time/does not work" etc. By experiencing it you will KNOW and thus you can let the mind doubt all it wants. It does not bother you all that much anymore because your relationship with it will become more depersonalized...
