Did I say anything about killing anyone? Now that you mention it, if faced with the decision of having to take someones life that was about to take mine, I have no doubt in my ability to save my own life if my life is in danger. But, I'm not so sure you have to "pay" for anything when as a victim of a darker energy you are only doing what's necessary to save your own life. Bad things have happened to good people who have had to take extreme measures to save their own life, when you're looking pure evil in the eye you don't lay yourself down in sacrifice for fear of not being absolved - you do what you have to do to survive.
A person of pure intent who is victimized by evil's random acts of violence, shouldn't have to "pay" for self preservation, somehow I don't think the universe works that way. As a victim of violence the PTSD you suffer is payback enough...if that's what you mean by pay.
