It is a very high frequency tone. It isn't uncomfortable or annoying - it is just there.

I was told that it is the "universal sound" by a spiritual teacher. It is interdimensional. He advised me to "tune in" to it often throughout the day and this will help me advance my spiritual awareness. He teaches light and sound (vibration) techniques for many years.
Sometimes I hear it in right ear, then left or both. Sometimes the pitch changes. I like to think of it as downloading info and communication and awareness from higher realms
