The Taoist sage Chuang-Tzu is famous for the following story. He tells how he had a very vivid dream, and in that dream he was a butterfly. Then, when he woke up still with a human body, he wondered. “Am I really a man, with dreams of being a butterfly? Or is the truth that I am ultimately a beautiful butterfly, having an elaborate dream of being a man?”
