You say that you've had past concerns about doctors "pushing" their gear on you, in a sense, some aspect of fear about the whole situation?

Maybe its manifested as a result of that fear, wheras in reality these doctors have no power over you. There is nothing they can do to you without your consent, you are their boss.

Just a thought..
