Is this really about the same body scanners they are using in airports ?
The wikipedia article you are quoting sounds like it's talking about the portable metal detector 'walk throughs' that were going around the stations a year or so ago.
I agree it's still an infringement, but when I first read your post it read as if it was a development on the story of airport body scanners now being introduced into the railways. Which is a much bigger story if that were true.
