The problems last night (my time anyway) has been traced to some "overnight" server maintenance that did not go well.

Needless to say, the administation team will be working with the hosting company to improve the process, control and transparency around this kind of activity that is performed on our behalf, and we will be finding out why we did not know in advance that this maintenance was happening.

Despite what you may think, we do have a pretty good host, and this site does attract a lot of unwanted attention - and is high volume for both legitimate and illegitimate internet traffic - so they do have thier work cut out for them.

Despite this we can always improve and we will try to do just that.
