The reason Iraq was unsuccessful on their attack was because the Kurds stopped them with US backing, a long story but a group of men on horseback stopped Saddams army of tanks. The freedom fighters are a fierce fighting force and were used to train us troops in desert combat to share secrets learned over thousands of years of battles.
That is why Saddam turned on the Kurds, launched chemical weapons on one of their main cities and went from village to village filling their water supplies with cement.
Kurdistan is a country that was cut into 4ths, their ancesters lead back to the Medes from a time when they ruled from Asia to Egypt. Just as all great empires have done, they rose and fell to defeat.
Kurdistan is less than 100 miles from the Capital of Iran, and death squads are sent in regularly to different areas to capture and hang "voices" for public display. There is a very strong movement inside of Iran right now covering the whole country to remove those in power, so I need to disagree that they would put a strong fight up against invasion forces. It would be more like the first gulf war where arms were laid down and tanks salluted as they rolled towards the capitol.
as the King says the biggest threat are the 2000+ speed boats rigged for suicide bombers and over 10,000 torpedos that travel faster than any others in the world ready to launch on the straights to shut off the flow of oil.
That understanding is one of the reasons there was a sudden delay in moving forward while massive pipelines have been built to move oil through ports outside of that area.
From what I am hearing these pipelines will be completed by early 2012...
The whole world is hoping that day will never come, but announced for the anniversary of the Revololution was the fact they are only 2 steps away from completing weapons grade uranium.
weapons grade will be produced and tested by the end of 2012...

Iran is the front burner to putting out the fire that is China. Nothing to do with them being particularly evil and whatnot. Every country in the region has been doing all manner of nasties.
