What a wonderful story about Baxter, the care-dog, Mudra. The animals do bring the love and beauty to our world.
Several years ago my sister was in the hospital gravely ill. Her huge food- loving cat would not eat, would not go out to his garden. He had not ever acted like this when she was away travelling. I took Tux to hospital with permission (Dr. said "Sure, just don't let him bring chocolates...".) He looked at her, she looked at him, a brightness filled the room. Took him back to her place and he went for his bowl and he went to his garden. And sister was out of the hospital soon after that.
One Christmas, sister and I visited a small nursing home with a few gifts for the residents. The atmosphere was joyful, and maybe so because of the animals there. Just inside the front door a parrot on a perch yelled out "Hello, How Are You!!!!!". A big yellow lab followed us around. And some contented cats lounged here and there as cats are known to do.
