I say yes and no. Yes, it is happening, but no I don't think it is the will of the people. When I speak with Europeans, I can see a socialist attitude of the government will provide for us with the social programs and such and worker protections and so forth, but in our case who is actually benefiting?

I've personally witnessed a number of talented people get laid off from their full time jobs and I've also seen a number of these people take their skills and turn them into amazing freelance and home-based businesses. Are they making the same amount of money and benefits as before? Probably not. But, they are self-sufficient, they did get out of the box of working for one employer and many of them are actually happier despite the lower earnings.

Despite all of this socialist BS, I'm still amazed at many of the people who are making it and some of the innovative, entrepreneurial activities that are taking place in this country. We're the country that came up with the FU attitude. We told the British to stick it. Many people have told their former bosses to stick it and have done even better on their own.

Maybe I live in another world, but I just don't see who this appeals to.
