Well if you look at is a conspiracy there are 2 ways that one could lean.

Way One would be that these people have known Barrack for ages and its all media circus, 'cause lets face it, its not like anything actualyl happened, its all a bit dull really, however.....

Way Two is that this couple has been planning an "invasion" of the whitehouse for ages, they wanted to show how easy and accessible the President is from the bottom all the way to the top and that the USA security machine is infact so weak it can't stop two people walking through a door.

I doubt it greatly but how cool woul way two be? :P
