it sure does look like a mixture there! im veering towards feline origin as cats seem to be able to live in seclusion and hide very well, moreso than dogs i believe. for example the 'beast of bodmin moor' has been seen rarely over many years without being tracked down or caught, it does seem to be a puma type feline and has been blamed for attacks on humans, including children. so my offering is its a cat based animal
